Birkball Championship
Why: Competition! Challenge! Teamwork! Socialization! Food! Fun! Get good, varied competition and see how far you can get!
When: Saturday March 3, 2012
Who: Twelve teams of two players. For individuals who want to participate, but don't have a partner, let us know your interest and we'll pair players.
Where: Private room behind cafeteria in San Jose, California (Harry’s Hofbrau, 390 Saratoga Ave. near Interstate 280)
Fees: None for participants or observers. Participants and observers are limited to those who have prior authorization.

Strategy: All participants have 3 hours of competition, separated by lunch, followed by witnessing or playing on the four best teams as they compete to win the championship.
Nominal Schedule:
- 10:00 AM Registration & Practice
- 10:20 AM Announcements
- 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM Round Robin Play Interleaved with Rest and Lunch Breaks
- 2:00 PM Championship Semifinals
- 2:20 PM Championship Finals
- 2:40 PM Awards (Top Three Teams)
Rules: These Rules will be used.
Hardware: 4-foot 4-player game tables with twenty 7/8” chrome steel balls and one 35 mm red polyester target ball
In the round robin, each team will play against ALL other teams, assuming time permits. The top four teams from the round robin will play in the finals.
Both players of a team will alternate positions (goalie and wing).
Judgments by referees are final. Only rule interpretations may be overruled by the championship director upon immediate petition by a team.
